Subic Bay, on the west coast of Luzon about 100 km northwest of Manila Bay, is a leading Philippine wreck-diving destination with a concentration of Spanish-American War and WWII shipwrecks.
Subic Bay is a natural harbor formerly home to a major U.S. Navy base, now the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, with easy access from Manila. Its waters contain numerous documented wrecks spanning the Spanish-American War (1898) and World War II, including the Oryoku Maru, Seian Maru and USS New York (USS Rochester), alongside the scuttled LST-559. This concentration of accessible historic wrecks has made the bay a notable wreck-diving hub distinct from the reef/macro-focused sites further south in Batangas.
