Molokini is a crescent-shaped, partially submerged volcanic crater off Maui that forms one of Hawaii's most famous diving and snorkeling destinations and a protected Marine Life Conservation District.
Molokini sits in the 'Alalakeiki Channel between Maui and Kaho'olawe, roughly 2.5 miles west of Makena State Park. Since 1977 it has been designated a Marine Life Conservation District, banning fishing and anchoring. Its sheltered crescent interior offers calm snorkeling and diving, while the outer wall is a 300-foot sheer drop-off with visibility reaching up to 150 feet and around 250 recorded fish species.
