Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park protects the coral reef system along the southern and southwestern coast of Cozumel Island, part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
The park covers a marine area of about 120 km2 off the south coast of Cozumel Island in Quintana Roo, Mexico. It was declared a National Marine Park in 1996 and recognized as a Ramsar wetland in 2005. The park is home to more than 1,000 marine species, including hard and soft corals, sponges, sea turtles, and the endemic splendid toadfish, and is internationally known for wall and drift diving.
