Bunaken is a small island and the namesake of Bunaken National Marine Park at the northern tip of Sulawesi, renowned for exceptionally high coral and fish diversity.
Bunaken is an 8 km2 island off the northern tip of Sulawesi, Indonesia, administratively part of the municipality of Manado, and gives its name to the surrounding Bunaken National Marine Park. The park covers about 890.65 km2, of which only around 3% is land, and also includes the islands of Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain, and Siladen. The park is noted for very high marine biodiversity, including seven of the world's eight giant clam species and more than 70% of the known fish species of the Indo-Western Pacific.
