A remote archipelago in the eastern Lesser Sunda Islands offering reef, wall, and pelagic diving driven by some of Indonesia's strongest currents.
The Alor Archipelago, administered as Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, lies in Indonesia's eastern Lesser Sunda Islands. The Ombai Strait running through it carries one of the strongest branches of the Indonesian Throughflow, supporting over 1,000 recorded fish species. Dive sites range from current-swept walls such as the Great Wall of Pantar (schooling hammerheads, mola mola around September) to sheltered muck-diving bays at Kalabahi and Beangabang; most of the 70-plus sites are reachable only by liveaboard.
