St. Croix, the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is known for dramatic wall diving along its north shore and one of the most extensive barrier reef systems in the tropical Atlantic Caribbean.
The island's signature feature is 'The Wall,' a steep drop-off along the North Shore where the reef slopes to roughly 40 feet before plunging toward the Puerto Rico Trench, best accessed at Cane Bay Wall. St. Croix is also encircled by an extensive barrier reef, described as one of the best-developed reef systems on the Puerto Rico-Virgin Islands shelf. The region also includes the Butler Bay wreck sites and the Buck Island Reef National Monument snorkel trail.
