Rainbow Reef is a system of dive sites in the Somosomo Strait between Taveuni and Vanua Levu, famous for its soft-coral walls and strong tidal currents.
Rainbow Reef lies in the Somosomo Strait, the narrow channel separating the island of Taveuni from Vanua Levu. It is a collection of dive locations along the Taveuni side of the strait, best known for the Great White Wall, where white soft coral grows at roughly 15 to 65 metres depth. Strong tidal currents flush the strait, sustaining dense coral growth and rich reef-fish populations, with more than 1,400 recorded reef fish species in the area.
