Puerto Plata and Sosua form the Dominican Republic's main north-coast (Amber Coast) diving region, known for sheltered-bay reef diving and deeper Atlantic wall and wreck sites.
This region spans the Atlantic-facing north coast around Puerto Plata, Sosua, and Cabarete, also known as the Amber Coast. Diving is staged mainly from the protected waters of Sosua Bay, with sites ranging from shallow reefs suitable for beginners to deeper walls and wrecks such as Airport Wall and the Zingara wreck further offshore.
