Maldives
North Male Atoll is the most visited diving region in the Maldives, located right next to the capital Male and the international airport.
North Male Atoll is one of two natural atolls, together with South Male Atoll, that form the administrative Kaafu Atoll. The atoll hosts numerous resort islands developed from the 1970s onward. With over 50 dive sites, it offers shallow house reefs, drift dives through channels (kandus), and pinnacles (thilas) such as Banana Reef and the Maldives Victory wreck. Divers regularly encounter manta rays, whale sharks, hammerhead and grey reef sharks, particularly from June to November.
