Neptune Islands

Australia

The Neptune Islands are a pair of island groups near the entrance to Spencer Gulf, South Australia, world-renowned as the primary and only legally permitted site in Australia for great white shark cage diving.

The Neptune Islands comprise the North and South Neptune Islands, two granite island groups on the Eyre Peninsula. Surrounding waters are protected as the Neptune Islands Group Marine Park, established in 2012. Large resident colonies of fur seals and sea lions attract migratory great white sharks, making the islands a global hub for shark cage diving since the late 1970s.
