Koh Tao is a small island in the Chumphon Archipelago on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand, widely regarded as the region's premier diving hub with over 25 dive sites reachable within a short boat ride.
Koh Tao and its satellite islet Koh Nang Yuan offer a mix of granite pinnacle and coral reef diving in sheltered, calm waters year-round. Well-known sites such as Chumphon Pinnacle, Southwest Pinnacle, Shark Island, White Rock and Sail Rock combine coral gardens with granite boulder formations, swim-throughs and deep pinnacles that attract pelagic species including whale sharks and barracuda. The surrounding reefs are recorded to host over 130 species of hard coral and over 220 species of reef fish.
