WWII-era wreck-diving region on the western fringe of the Sognefjord (Gulen municipality), with 25+ known wrecks including the famous SS Frankenwald, plus notable nudibranch diversity.
Sognefjord is Norway's longest (about 205 km) and deepest (up to 1,308 m) fjord. Its western mouth around Gulen was strategically important in WWII and is now centred on Gulen Dive Resort, about 100 km from Bergen, with more than 25 known wrecks including the SS Frankenwald (voted Norway's best wreck dive in 2009), the Ferndale and Parat twin wrecks, and the KNM Uller minelayer.
