Grotto and Banzai Cliff Coastal Area

Northern Mariana Islands

A rugged stretch of Saipan's northern coastline combining the karst cave dive known as The Grotto with the adjacent Banzai Cliff wall and nearby cavern/beach sites.

This coastal stretch at Saipan's northern tip, near San Roque, groups several linked dive sites. The Grotto, about 3.5 km south of Banzai Cliff, is a collapsed karst cave/sinkhole reached via 112 steps, described as possibly the most popular and most challenging dive in Saipan, exiting to open ocean through three openings. Wing Beach lies nearby on the northwest of the island, and the 'Spot Light' cavern site is close to Banzai Cliff, a historic WWII site.
