Espiritu Santo

Vanuatu

Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu's largest island, is the country's best-known diving region, famous for the WWII wreck of the SS President Coolidge and the nearby Million Dollar Point debris site near Luganville.

Espiritu Santo combines WWII shipwreck diving, artificial debris sites, and natural reef and cave diving centered on the town of Luganville. The SS President Coolidge, a sunken former luxury liner used as a WWII troopship, lies just offshore. Nearby, Million Dollar Point contains equipment dumped into the sea by US forces at the end of the war. Since 1983 the Vanuatu government has protected the Coolidge wreck site from salvage.
