Cape Town and Gansbaai

South Africa

A stretch of South Africa's southwestern coast encompassing Cape Town/False Bay and Gansbaai, widely known for great white shark cage diving and cold-water kelp diving.

This region spans the diving grounds around Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula, the wreck and reef sites of False Bay, and the waters off Gansbaai and Dyer Island near the channel known as Shark Alley. Gansbaai has been a hub for great white shark cage diving since around 1995. False Bay contains several intentionally scuttled shipwrecks used as dive sites. No sourced centre coordinate for the combined region was found, so none is set here.
