Bocas del Toro Archipelago

Panama

Bocas del Toro is a Caribbean archipelago in northwest Panama comprising nine main islands, around 50 cays and roughly 200 islets, offering shallow, biodiverse reefs.

Located in the Caribbean Sea, the archipelago is split by Almirante Bay and Chiriqui Lagoon into a northern group (including Isla Colon and Bastimentos) and a southern group. A large part of the area is protected within Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park, Panama's first marine park. Its calm, sheltered waters and adjacent mangrove forests support extensive shallow coral reef systems. Most dive operations are based out of Bocas Town on Isla Colon.
