Situated between Africa and Madagascar, Mayotte has a plenty of widespread fauna and flora. Baobabs and tulip trees, from Gabon and Takamakas, are stretch throughout both the humid and dry forests. You can also find ylang-ylang and magnificent wild orchids, of which nearly 50 species, including the vanilla plant, exist on Mayotte. To discover this wealthy wildlife, a 100 km hiking trail runs around the island, allowing tourists to be in awe of the striking views, discover a charming geological history, dip themselves in the Mahori nature, and mingle with the locals. One of Mayotte's greatest assets is its coral reef, bordering one of the biggest enclosed lagoons in the earth.
Mayotte diving is an incredible plenitude of corals of all shapes and a wide mixture of tropical fish in an enormous tidal pond with safe water. The other uniqueness of this tidal pond is to have a double boundary reef: one remote from the shore of 3 to 15 km, steadily around the island, cut by a few passes. There are also deep water diving sites available for experienced divers. These sites have depth of more than 200 feet and at some points reaches to about 300 feet. There are other islands and spots nearby, which include renowned Bambo and Chaozil.
