Divers cross the road from the car park and enter straight opposite it, turning left on the ebb and right on the flood. Oysters and other shellfish cover much of the slope, which gets steeper towards the channel. Squat lobsters, crabs, starfish, sea urchins, sea carnations, seahorses and flatfish are found, and photographers come for sea slugs and pipefish. Brittle stars have taken over parts of the site. The current can be strong outside slack water, and after heavy rain visibility can suffer from water let out through the sluices.
