Karang Tohor

Karang Tohor is a large rock pinnacle in the bay east of Juara on Tioman's east coast, about five minutes by boat from the jetty. Its upper part between about 9 and 15 m is covered in soft and hard corals, and the sides drop as walls with large boulders into much deeper water. The reef is big and holds many fish, including barracuda, trevally, triggerfish, scorpionfish and porcupinefish, with sea fans and whip, leather and black corals, and turtles and sharks are also reported, besides plenty of macro life. Currents are sometimes stronger here than at the sheltered bay sites.
