Sec du Gendarme
The Sec du Gendarme lies close to the Cap des Mèdes at the north-east tip of Porquerolles. It is far less crowded than the cape, yet its fixed life is dense with sponges, anemones, gorgonians and axinella, and sea bream, damselfish and rainbow wrasse swarm around it. Macro photographers find plenty of subjects. Current is frequent and the site is not sheltered from the mistral, so a heavy shot line helps to mark it, and boat traffic calls for attention.
