Shark Ray Alley

Fishermen once cleaned their catch at this spot inside the reef, and the scraps drew nurse sharks and southern stingrays, which dive operators then turned into a regular stop. Today the animals come to the boats as soon as they hear the engines, so encounters are close and almost guaranteed. The water is only about two to three metres deep over a white sand bottom, which suits snorkellers and photographers. Horse-eye jacks, blue runners and other fish follow the sharks and rays for leftovers. Guides feed the animals here, but visitors are asked not to touch them.
