The site lies in the passage between Chichijima and Minamijima, so the tide runs through it and pelagic fish are common. From mid-October cownose rays gather, with more than 50 and at times close to 100 in the water column, alongside spotted eagle rays and stingrays. A narrow cave cuts through the rock, where lobsters and whitetip reef sharks rest, but the current can pull divers through it. From the rock the dive moves out over bright white sand. Good buoyancy and free descents are needed because of the current.
