Nuku Dive presents La Sentinelle as its signature site. The terrain mixes drop-offs with fields of boulders, and rays and sharks come to the cleaning stations there. Anthias and fusiliers gather in schools, and many of the fish belong to species endemic to the Marquesas. Its alternative name, La Sentinelle aux Marteaux, refers to hammerhead sharks, which a dive guide notes are seen here even though visibility is often too low to watch them well. The operator describes the site as sheltered throughout the year and open to Level 1 or Open Water divers.
