El Bajo Gardner

El Bajo Gardner is a seamount just northeast of Gardner Islet, off the northeast coast of Española. A few rocks mark its top, and the slope runs down to sand. Large schools of eagle rays and mantas can appear, together with jacks, mackerels, Galapagos sharks and sea lions, while whitetip reef sharks rest on the sand. Garden eels, red-lipped batfish, peacock flounders and tiger snake eels live on the bottom, and thermoclines are frequent.
