Black Rock
Because no other island or reef lies nearby, the rock works as a fish magnet with its own small ecosystem. Oceanic manta rays visit it to be cleaned, and dive operators report dozens of individual mantas over a few days during the yearly gathering. The south and southwest sides drop as steep walls, while the north side slopes more gently, so divers can pick the sheltered or the exposed side depending on the current. Schools of jacks, barracuda, fusiliers and glassfish surround the rock, and reef sharks, eagle rays, whale sharks and leopard sharks are seen as well. Boats usually spend a full day here because no other dive sites are close.
