Conception Arena
Conception Arena lies on the north-west side of Conception Island and is reached by a long boat ride from Mahé. Granite boulders on the seabed are arranged like an amphitheatre, cut by deep gullies and coral-lined passages that divers can swim through. Beyond the boulders the bottom slopes away over sand, and the strong current there draws in bigger fish. Turtles, stingrays, reef sharks and schooling pelagic fish are frequent, and eagle rays sometimes pass in groups.
