One of Europe’s top kept secrets, Serbia should be on any adventurer’s bucket list. A land of great natural exquisiteness that boasts 2% of the world’s flora species, an equally wealthy history, and an amazingly good cuisine are just a few of the things that tourists can look forward to. Serbia might not have any beaches but it has an affluent cultural life with rural market towns that still hold on to conventional ways, with jaw-dropping landscapes, forests, and distant, hidden monasteries in the endless thriving green hills. The tourist attractions aren’t crowded and the prices for everything are really low.
Serbia may be a landlocked country but that doesn’t make it any less of a dive destination. The lakes and rivers of this country are not only refreshing swimming holes in the summer, but also double as gateways to an underwater heaven. Almost each single lake and river is used for scuba diving in Serbia. Though the visibility may not be perfect in some of these bodies of water sometimes it’s thrilling just exploring a different marine ecosystem. Whether you are diving in the renowned Danube River or sinking into the artificial lake of Sava near Belgrade, if you are a diver that likes to step out of their comfort zone, scuba diving in Serbia could be worth a try.
