Situated in the middle of the South Pacific, French Polynesia is about as far away from it all as it’s possible to get. The country is divided into five distinct island groups, the largest and most well visited being the Society Islands. The crystal clear water redefines blue, and the pure white beaches are set against a backdrop of coconut palms, not high rises. Once away from the turquoise sea and white sand beaches, climb some of the lovely mountains on the islands. Magic Mountain and Mount Otemanu are two superb hikes that offer up memorable views. In Uturoa, the fascinating Anapa Pearl Farm will teach you all about pearls and pearl farming, a highly instructive experience.
Spread like twinkling sapphires in the turquoise ocean, the islands and atolls of French Polynesia are as dreamy as they come. Of the 118 islands of French Polynesia, 11 presently boast diving centers. Head to Moorea to dive with sharks. You can see reef sharks and lemon sharks here. Bora Bora has a wonderful lagoon where you can swim alongside manta rays and sharks on a coral wall. There are reefs completely encircling the island, so there is no shortage of dives to partake in. Taotoi has a fun-filled Stingray World, and drift divers will want to make Rangiroa their first stop.
