Nicaragua is one of the lesser traveled countries of Central America, but that is all about to change. The opportunities for the outdoor adventure seeker are vast and the colonial towns offer just enough attraction and grit to make happy any culture junkie, not to mention there are some of the best beaches and surf in the region. Nicaragua has something to offer everyone – from adventure to food and from nature to lavishness – all throughout the year. Explore Nicaragua during the lush green season, when landscapes are fertile and the surf is up. Nicaragua is packed with wonderful natural beauty and very warm people.
Visitors can get their feet wet at Managua, which is a great place to start and to get a feel for these waters. San Juan del Sur is another great place to get used to the waters around Nicaragua and to learn about the creatures that live along this country’s spectacular coastline. However, if you really want an amazing underwater experience, you can do little better than travel towards Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island. Little Corn Island is still somewhat unspoilt by tourism and development and, as you can imagine, the Caribbean waters that enclose the island are superbly blue and full of fish. There are no jet skis or other modern, noisy paraphernalia in the area, so the calm waters around the island are ideal for scuba diving!
