Although Malawi is a small country relative to African standards, it welcomes those looking for a peaceful holiday in a wonderfully unspoilt part of the earth. Most significantly, it is famous for its amazing freshwater lake, Lake Malawi, which dominates this landlocked country. The clear waters and serene islands offer the ideal, laid-back beach holiday; whilst Malawi’s 11 national parks and wildlife reserves present activities like hiking, mountain biking and birdwatching. The people are known to be some of the friendliest and most welcoming in the whole continent, meaning no trip to this country is complete without spending some time with the locals and experiencing their distinctive culture.
Malawi is reputedly home to some of the best freshwater diving in the earth. The large Lake Malawi is ideal for all levels of diver and particularly suited to those beginning their scuba adventure or learning new skills. Lake Malawi can be divided into two different regions. The first is Nkharta Bay which hosts 11 different sites. The second is Lake Malawi National Park. Here divers can get pleasure from sites around Mumbo Island, Domwe Island, and Cape Maclear Nature Reserve. However, there are a few advanced dives which include one penetrable wreck. You won’t get any coral reefs here, but you will probably be amazed by the number of colorful fish in this freshwater environment.
