Belgium packs in a typically European variety of cuisines, cultures and languages and, like the continent itself, is divided into a Germanic north and Latin south. It has played a role in European history far out of proportion to its size. You'll find outstanding architectural heritage, excellent art museums and, with a few exceptions, far fewer tourist crowds than elsewhere in Europe. Belgium travel experiences go beyond its fine products, with a rich history in the centre of Western Europe in addition to a thriving modern culture. It sits at ease as a progressive and popular country nestled in the heart of it all.
The diving culture in Belgium is pretty active and extremely popular. Wreck buffs can explore the SS Trifels in the North Sea. The true magnificence and richness of diving in Belgium definitely lies within its quarries, ponds and artificial lakes. In Flanders, natural dive sites have a broad diversity of marine life, whilst those in Wallonia have relatively undeveloped flora and fauna. La Gombe is another fascinating dive site to visit. Situated near the attractive town of Esneux, it offers a thrilling dive, swimming between aeroplane carcasses, dead trees and a rich diversity of marine life. Belgium is also home to the world-renowned Nemo 33 Aquatic dive centre near Brussels.
